Anonymous asked: Name 10 random things about you? :)

ahh okay I did this a little while ago (here) but I’ll try to come up with new ones for ya :)

  1. I am completely fascinated with unsolved crimes- especially with missing persons cases. I used to know every detail available about the JonBenet Ramsey case, although I’m a bit rusty now since I haven’t read my books on it in a while.
  2. I have two younger sisters
  3. I was born in Manhattan, moved to Israel when I was four, and then to Florida when I was 11
  4. I have a strange fascination with Portland even though I have never been
  5. The only countries I’ve been to other than Israel and the US are England, the Netherlands, and Spain
  6. Scottish accents are my absolute fucking favourite
  7. I don’t ever want to have kids, but I love names a whole lot (it’s really weird don’t judge me) and I have lists and lists of theoretical babynames
  8. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is my absolute all-time favourite movie
  9. I have four tattoos, but I’m too chicken to get piercings.
  10. These took me a ridiculously long time to come up with

  4. I own a uke, which I don’t really play
  5. I named my cat after a Broadway actor
  6. I really really love vintage cars and am determined to own one someday. Preferably a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air or a VW Bus. Or both.
  7. I have really odd phases with food where I eat one thing excessively for a while and then get really tired of it and switch to something else.
  8. I liked Britney Spears when I was 10
  9. I took karate when I was in fourth and fifth grade
  10. I reference Hair, Sports Night, and Saturday Night Live (among a few others) on a daily basis, and people rarely get the reference.

what normal college students to on game day: go to the game
what I do on game day: sit in my pjs and gryffindor hat watching harry potter and the chamber of secrets.
but ironically our school colours and gryffindor colours are the same, so I’m not that unspirited.

As per anon’s request- pictures of my tattoos and the meanings behind them. The pictures are out of order, but anyway.

My first tattoo: “unchangingly and most fondly yours,” with the comma, in my handwriting on my right ribcage. It’a a line from the song And Then There Were None from the musical Spring Awakening- not even my favourite song from the show (and not even my favourite musical, though I do love it), but the line stood out to me from the moment I heard it. In the context of the show, basically a woman is writing a letter to someone she cares for and is concerned about, and she ends the letter with “in the meantime, I am unchangingly and most fondly yours.” To me, it symbolizes just being a generally caring and kind-hearted person, which I definitely try to be. I care deeply about everyone I encounter.

My second tattoo: an airplane on my right shoulder blade. The idea for this one was pretty impulsive, as well- I knew I wanted another tattoo, but had no idea of what. And then I came across this illustration - I wish I remember where I found it, but I honestly haven’t a clue - and knew this was it. There isn’t really much of a story behind this one, to be honest. I just love airplanes, I love airports, I love traveling, being places I’ve never been, seeing things I’ve never seen. On a more sentimental note, half my family lives in Israel and the other half in Florida. I also lived in Israel from ages 4 to 11, so much of my childhood was spent there. No matter where I am, I will be half the world away from my family and from my home.

My third tattoo: an Aspen tree (symbolizing overcoming fear and doubt) on my left side. The leaves are red because nothing makes me happier than trees that change colour in the fall, and being from Florida, I don’t get to see much of that. I also incorporated the logo for the National Eating Disorder Association at the bottom to symbolize my strength in recovering from my issues with food. To be completely honest, I don’t really like this tattoo. I plan on getting it expanded and coloured in and hopefully I can make it look like I had planned for it to look.

My fourth tattoo: I don’t have a picture of this one, but it says “atlantic ocean, new york skyline” in typewriter font on my left shoulder blade. It’s from the Bright Eyes song Train Under Water, and I just thought it went really well with the airplane, and is also a tribute to the place that makes me feel happiest and most at home.

(by the way, theskywentviolet took all of these pictures.)

stophatingyourbody:

If you told me a year ago that I’d feel this way, I’d laugh and tell you you’d lost your mind. But I’m learning, slowly. I’m learning that I’ll never be perfect, and that I don’t have to be.
It takes time. It’s exhausting, but it’s worth it. And I can tell you with certainty that no matter how you feel now, you can reach this point, too. :)

And this is Book of Happiness part two, because clearly 10 minutes to talk about it was not enough.

Tuesday Aug 8 @ 01:25pm

In which I talk about my Book of Happiness, aka a little Hair scrapbook I put together. The purpose of this video is mostly so I have documentation just in case something happens and I lose it or something.

Feel free to watch, but you may be bored to tears. ;D

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

My girlfriend made this post about a month and a half before we met, and I stumbled across it today for the first time. I’m happy to say that I’ve got all those things covered, aside for the “cute little videos” part. And so I’m fixing that.

Let me present a quick disclaimer- I sound absolutely horrid for the following reasons.

So this is for Marni- I love you, I want to be with you for as long as you’re willing, I think about you constantly, and I hope you know that you can tell me absolutely anything.

Good night, darling. <3
